Off-campus Access
Accessing Priviledged Services Off Campus
If I can access e-mail off campus, what else can I do?
As part of a separate national development called "ATHENS3", all members of the University will have their own Athens username and password which will grant them access to many national facilities such as BIDS, from wherever they are accessing the network. Databases available include those via the I.S.I. Web of Science, NESLI (electronic journals), EDINA, Ei Village and NISS NetFirst.
When we register you, we also provide you with an Athens www.lboro.ac.uk/library/resources/athens.html username and password, which provides access to a variety of nationally provided data sources (Library databases). See also Athens Terms and Conditions st www.lboro.ac.uk/it/policies/athens.html.
Check your original Athens password at http://learn.lboro.ac.uk/blocks/staff_student_resources/athpass.php. You must log in after clicking on the link to see your original Athens password. If you change your Athens password then this link will not show you the changed password.
Change your Athens password at http://auth.athensams.net/my/ (you will need your current Athens username and password).
Further details on Library electronic resources and their passwords (restricted) at https://internal.lboro.ac.uk/diss/lb/uniwide/webpages/passwords.html.
Many other databases and electronic journals do, however, rely on the I.P. address for authentication. To access these you will need to use the Remote Working Portal at https://vpn.lboro.ac.uk (Students and Staff) or the Remote Working Client (Staff Desktop users and Apple Macintosh users only). Information on Using the Remote Working Portal is at www.lboro.ac.uk/it/off-campus/portal.html. Information on the Remote Working Client is at www.lboro.ac.uk/it/off-campus/staff.html.
