Update to Main Central IT Storage Systems

We need to do the annual update to the main IT storage systems. We are proposing to do this on the evening of Tuesday 29 July starting at 5.00pm and working through the evening until it is complete. We expect the work to take between 4 and 5 hours, so you should assume the services will be unavailable all that evening and 'at risk' until the following morning.

The following services will be unavailable until the work is complete:

While we appreciate that this is very close to Financial Year End and that some staff would be planning to work that evening, the updates do have to be done before the students return and we do need to avoid A-Level results, clearing and admissions periods. Having spoken to senior staff in Finance, it is felt that staff dealing with Year-End will probably be able to work around this by, for example, copying any required files from the U:drives and Y:drives before the system is taken down and copying them back when the system returns.

If the timing of this planned outage is going to be severely problematic to your department, please contact the IT Services Service Desk as soon as possible so that we can try to make alternative arrangements for you.
