Staff E-mail news September 2008
4,959 members of staff have now moved over to the new e-mail system (about 84%).
A recent review of the staff e-mail rollout recommended that the current rollout to Outlook with a CommuniGate server platform should be completed, and that we should investigate replacing the server platform with Microsoft Exchange in the medium term. It is necessary to complete the current move to give a single consolidated platform for any future migration, and to move the service off server hardware that is at the end of its life. At the present time staff continue to be moved individually, with adjustments being made to their PCs by IT staff. A target date will be set, probably mid to late November, to complete the rollout by migrating any remaining staff.
Work is also starting on looking at options for upgrading the student email system.
