CourseGenie Removal
The CourseGenie add-on to Word was introduced as an aid to the construction of web sites for the original Learn server.
With the introduction of the new 'enhanced' Learn system with its built-in tools, CourseGenie has become redundant, and the annual licence fee for our site licence can no longer be justified. Sites created with CourseGenie can be maintained using any HTML or text editor.
Our current licence expires over the summer, and we wish to automatically uninstall CourseGenie from Staff Desktop Service PCs at the beginning of July to avoid error messages appearing.
If you are not on the Staff Desktop Service, you will have a standalone edition of CourseGenie, in which case there is an item in your Start Menu programs list for CourseGenie. The CourseGenie menu has an Uninstall item which you can use to remove the program.
Users who wish to continue to use CourseGenie will be able to purchase a single-user licence from the Wimba web site, at www.wimba.com/products/wimba_create/ - the new version is called Wimba Create. However, we believe that most people will be able to achieve everything they need using the tools in the new Learn system.
