Unsupported Devices
Blackberry Devices
Blackberry devices are not supported by IT Services at present. For these devices to fully work, the university would need the Blackberry Internet Service (BIS) infrastructure. At this time Loughborough University is not looking to purchase the Blackberry infrastructure.
If you already have a blackberry device, you will be able to retrieve email onto the device but this can only be done via the blackberry software and when the device is docked to your PC.
Other Unsupported Devices
IT Services will not offer support for the following devices:
-
Windows Mobile 5/2003
-
Palm OS
-
Sony Ericsson P Series
-
Nokia Series 40 devices
Windows Mobile 5 / 2003
If you have a wireless enabled device you will be able to use the Lboro wireless network see www.lboro.ac.uk/wireless/windows-mobile-5.html to download e-mails to your device. For the device to synchronise your calendar and contacts, Active Sync will be required and the device will need to be docked with your PC.
See further information on Active Sync at www.lboro.ac.uk/it/mobile/activesync.html.
Palm OS
Palm devices will not synchronise your Calendar or Contacts, but can still access E-mail using the IMAP protocol.
Sony Ericsson P Series
Sony Ericsson P Series devices will synchronise your Calendar, Contacts and E-mail but only using third party software.
Nokia Series 40
Mobile phones with Nokia's Series 40 operating systems often do not have the required protocol support and so will not be able to receive your University e-mail.
