Student E-mail
Introduction
This applies to all students.
Important: Please do not open any e-mail attachment unless you are sure it is genuine.
Staff and student members of the University are automatically given a user name, password, and e-mail address when they join the University, for use in connection with their work or studies.
Students and Staff can access their University e-mail from anywhere in the world with a computer connected to the Internet using a browser and our student web-based e-mail system IMP at https://student-webmail.lboro.ac.uk/webmail/ or staff web-based e-mail system IMP at https://staff-webmail.lboro.ac.uk/webmail/ as appropriate. If this is not working, you can try the alternative access URLs - see www.lboro.ac.uk/it/mail/no.html.
Students can access their University e-mail from their Student Hall using IMP, or Outlook Express if they are connected to the Hall Network Service HallNet www.lboro.ac.uk/it/hallnet/.
Students or Staff can access their University e-mail at home using IMP, via an Internet Service Provider (I.S.P.).
Staff using the Staff Desktop Service can access their University e-mail using IMP or Outlook Express.
Leaving the University
When staff or students are removed from our systems their e-mail is deleted. No archive is kept. We normally keep e-mail for at least one month after the registration terminates, but if disk space is scarce we will delete the mail immediately. Staff, who are leaving, who have e-mail which should be retained by the University, should please contact their department IT staff in the first instance for assistance. We have instructions for finalists on saving their e-mail at www.lboro.ac.uk/it/mail/leaving.html.
