Computer Labs
Software for Labs for 2008 / 9
All of our P.C. labs are based on Windows XP, and we have upgraded to Office 2007 (see http://office2007.lboro.ac.uk) for this coming academic year. Microsoft Expression Web has replaced Microsoft FrontPage.
There are open access computers in the Pilkington Library, the Bridgeman Centre XX036 annex, and Haslegrave N.3.12. All other labs are available on an open access basis when not booked for classes. Timetables are displayed outside the rooms and are available online at https://internal.lboro.ac.uk/diss/avs/uniwide/LabReports/.
Software title is followed by Lab room numbers. All Labs indicates the following rooms: BE025, N312, N326, N328, S006, SMB108, SMB109, T210, XX031, XX031a, XX036.
The Stewart Mason Postgraduate learning centre includes a resource of 80 computers in SMB108 and SMB109. Software made available in this new facility is indicated by SMB in the lists below.

Manchester Information and Associated Services
The Manchester Information and Associated Services (MIMAS www.mimas.ac.uk) is a national data centre run by Manchester Computing at Manchester University. If you require use of any of its facilities please bring this to our attention.
Software Purchase Policy
IT Services undertakes to license, install and maintain all software in IT Services Labs that supports our core service as agreed under budgeting procedures. We cannot fund software licenses that are of use to only one department. However, if software has been purchased by a department or individual we can consider installing it in a Lab. Any software that has a specific function, as opposed to a general or generic one (e.g. Microsoft Office), should normally be funded from departments or faculties with that specific interest. IT Services can act as a broker and co-ordinator of funding arrangements. After an evaluation, we will consider supporting software depending on staff resources to install and maintain the configuration required for the software. There are some exceptions to the above, which continue purely as a result of previous policy which was more liberal. When such exceptions expire, replacements will be assessed under the current policy.
