Instructions:

Double-click Download Stinger www.lboro.ac.uk/it/hallnet/downloads/stinger.exe.

You may see the following message:

Double-click the Save button. You will see a standard Windows File Save dialogue.

Ensure that you know where you are saving the program, and click the Save button.

When the download has completed follow the additional instructions for System Restore (below).

Use Windows Explorer to navigate to the folder where you saved the stinger program.

Double click to run it.

By default, the C:\ drive will be scanned. Use the Add button to add any additional drives which need scanning.

Click Scan Now. Stinger will repair any infected files it finds.

Reverse the Disable System Restore steps once Stinger has finished.
Disable System Restore
Windows Vista uses a restore facility which backs up selected files. This means that an infected file may be stored as a back-up file, and cannot be removed. You must disable System Restore in order to remove infected files from C:\_Restore.
Disable System Restore Instructions

Right-click My Computer and select Properties.

Select the Performance tab.

Ensure that the Turn off System Restore checkbox is checked.

Click OK.

You will be asked to restart the computer. Click Yes.
In order to re-enable the System Restore Facility, repeat but ensure that the Turn off System Restore checkbox is unchecked.
