Staff E-mail
Introduction
The new Staff E-mail system on the Staff Desktop XP Service uses Outlook 2003 (rather than Outlook Express). You must also use the new webmail system at https://staff-mail.lboro.ac.uk, and not the old IMP system.
Before you are migrated to the new e-mail system it would be helpful if you could tidy your e-mail (with Outlook Express) www.lboro.ac.uk/it/mail/tidy-oe.html. This will help you in that searches of your migrated mail will be quicker, and help us in keeping e-mail storage small in size.
We also have Outlook 2003 instructions for those NOT using Staff Desktop, either on campus or on their own home computer at www.lboro.ac.uk/it/email/outlook-setup-home.html, and General instructions for non-staff desktop computers at www.lboro.ac.uk/it/email/general-setup.html.
"Spam"
We automaticallly test for unsolicited e-mail advertising ("spam"). E-mail determined as definately being spam is not delivered. E-mail determined as being probably spam is delivered to a folder called Filtered-SPAM - you can check this periodically to ensure we have not falsely identified real e-mail as spam. If you wish to re-direct probable spam to your Inbox, simply delete the Filtered-SPAM folder. If you later wish to not see probable spam in your Inbox, re-create the folder called Filtered-SPAM (the spelling and capitalisation must be precise).
Webmail and Hand-held Devices
Using a web browser on your mobile device (by directing it to https://staff-mail.lboro.ac.uk) will be automatically detected as such by our server, and you will be provided with a special interface "skin" designed especially for devices with small screens. For further information see our Mobile Computing web pages at www.lboro.ac.uk/it/mobile/.
