Getting It Together Podscroll Demonstration

A podscroll is a booklet downloadable to an i-Pod or Personal Media Player with a colour screen. A table of contents gives chapter titles in different colours. Each chapter is displayed with a border or flash of the appropriate colour. Thus the end-user can quickly scroll to the relevant chapter simply by looking for the appropriate colour. An emulation of a podscroll is given below. Move the mouse over (or select) "Next »" to see the next 'page', or move the mouse over (or select) "« Prev" to see the previous 'page'.

On a real iPod you will have a scroll wheel and will be able to scroll more quickly. Obviously podscrolls only work properly on colour iPods or Media Players capable of storing libraries of pictures.

iPod instructions for podscroll use

Podscrolls will appear in the iPod Photo menu. Select, and click the centre button twice. You can move about with the scroll wheel or the Next » and Previous « buttons. If you press >|| accidentally (which will launch the slideshow function), press the Menu button.

Right-click the link above and choose Save Target As... (or Control and click and Download Linked File on Apple Mac Safari).

iPod instructions for transfer from Windows computer

  1. Unzip the podscroll folder into My Pictures.

  2. Connect the iPod to the computer.

  3. Start iTunes.

  4. From the Edit menu select Preferences.

  5. Select the iPod tab.

  6. Click the Photos tab.

  7. Select the Synchronize photos from checkbox and choose the podscroll folder that contains the photos you want to copy from the pop-up menu. select the Include full-resolution photos checkbox.

  1. Unzip the podscroll file.

  2. Start iPhoto.

  3. Drag the podscroll folder into the left-hand column to create a new photo album.

  4. Connect the iPod to the Macintosh computer.

  5. Open Preferences and click the iPod button.

  6. Click the Photos tab and check that your iPod is set to synchronize with your iPhoto albums.
