Make Me An Administrator www.lboro.ac.uk/it/desktop/xp/make-admin.html. A utility which allows users easily to elevate their standard active directory accounts into the local Administrators group on their computer as required, and then remove it again. This allows hardware and software to be installed while logged in under the user's normal account. This is often preferable to logging in with a local administrative account so that shortcuts appear as expected and can in some cases be necessary for successful installation. This facility is provided by IT Services for use where it is necessary to aid productivity. Responsibility for deciding who should have access to the utility lies with individual departments and only IT staff can install it.

Microsoft Office 2007 office2007.lboro.ac.uk for teaching staff.
From October 2008 Microsoft Office 2007 will be installed in computer labs. In order to allow teaching staff to familiarise themselves with it and to help them in the preparation of relevant teaching materials, we have released Microsoft Office 2007 as an Optional Application to the Staff Desktop XP Service.
If you install this, it will remove Office 2003. Note also that some applications are not compatible with Microsoft Office 2007 - see Windows XP Compatibility issues at office2007.lboro.ac.uk/issues-xp.html. You should also be aware of File Compatibility Issues between Office 2007 and Office 2003 at office2007.lboro.ac.uk/compatibility.html.
Office 2007 is supported under a reasonable endeavours basis and will be fully supported on the Vista Staff Desktop Service which is scheduled for release in January 2009.
Therefore departments may decide to install Office 2007 on selected computers, leaving Office 2003 on others.
Expression Web (the replacement for FrontPage) and Microsoft Project 2007 can be installed separately (from Add or Remove Programs) but only after Office 2007 has been installed. This software cannot be installed independently of Office 2007.
A list of guides to Using Microsoft Office 2007 can be found at the easy to remember address office2007.lboro.ac.uk.
Installing Office 2007 can take up to 30 minutes to install because the following software will also be removed before installation:

-
Office Compatibility tool.
-
Hidden Data removal tool.
-

-
